IMPORTANT UPDATE
So here goes…after discussions tonight, in light of the increased positive cases within the town and in an attempt to reduce risk to everyone as much as possible, we are having to make changes to the planned Switch On.
We will now only be having the parade and the switch on of the lights. There will be no street performers, grotto or fairground. We know this will be hugely disappointing to everyone – especially the children, but given the high amount of cases within this age group, we want to keep risk to them at a minimum.Please note also, due to new traffic layout, the parade route will now be as follows:
- Travel down Millknowe and onto Aqualibrium Avenue to the roundabout
- Parade will continue down the dual carriageway to the mini roundabout and back up along the dual carriageway to junction at quay head
- Vehicles will head left round Factory Shop corner onto Main Street
- Parade will pass Town Hall and disembark round the corner from The Club.
The Kintyre School’s Pipe Band will be leading the parade as always, unfortunately, they will be unable to stop to perform as they would usually do.
Please bear in mind the parade will NOT be entering Longrow at any point.
We kindly ask that those wishing to observe the parade, please try to use areas within the whole route and observe social distancing.
We are so sorry that we cannot provide the Switch On we really hoped we could, we hope you all understand.
